Another One Down of the Day: Following last night’s trouncing in Iowa, Rep. Michele Bachmann has reportedly decided to follow in Herman Cain’s footsteps and “suspend” her campaign, which allows the GOP presidential candidate to bow out of the race while still leaving the door open for federal matching funds.
An official statement will be made shortly, but a GOP source told the National Journal that, after Iowa, Bachmann realized “there was no viable way forward.”
Governor Rick Perry is also widely expected to drop out after announcing last night that he was returning to Texas to “reassess” his campaign.
UPDATE: In West Des Moines, Michele Bachmann tells supporters, “I have decided to step aside.” “Hey Soul Sister” played her out. Meanwhile, Governor Perry is surprisingly still in it to win it.
bachmann, you were never going to win, but i’m glad you finally realized that. fucking crazy bitch.
